A closed-loop digital twin exchanges information with the physical operation so observations can update the model and analysis can inform operational decisions or actions. The loop may involve a person approving recommendations or automated control within defined limits. “Closed-loop” describes the connection between model and operation; it does not by itself mean the system is autonomous or safe without oversight.
