Continual Improvement Process

IN THIS GUIDE

Looking for a solution?

The continual improvement process is a repeated method for finding opportunities, making a focused change, and checking whether it improved results. Teams use it to improve quality, safety, delivery, or cost over time.

A common method is Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA): define a problem and baseline, test a change on a small scale, compare the result with the baseline, then standardize the change or revise it. Teams learn and adjust through repeated cycles.

In manufacturing, operators and supervisors can spot issues where work happens. A Gemba walk can help teams understand process conditions firsthand.
