MES (Manufacturing Execution System) software manages and records production execution at plant level. MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management) is a broader discipline covering production, quality, inventory and maintenance operations. In practice, vendors may use the terms differently, so compare the actual functions, workflows and scope rather than the label. MES is commonly one part of a wider MOM approach.
