SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is a system for monitoring and supervisory control of industrial processes, often across distributed equipment. It collects status and process data and presents alarms, trends and operator controls. SCADA commonly works with PLCs or remote terminal units; MES adds production execution and order-level context above the control layer.
