In tobacco manufacturing, these abbreviations may describe equipment areas or product categories. SMD is used here for a conventional cigarette maker-and-packer line, although some sites use SMD for the packing section alone. FMD refers to filter-making equipment. THP refers to heated tobacco products and their production lines. MO/OND is local shorthand for oral nicotine product lines, including snus-type products; confirm the exact expansion in the plant’s own terminology. FMC means factory-made cigarettes and names a product category rather than a specific machine. Where SMD means the packing section only, it may cover both THP and FMC products. Equipment names, line boundaries and KPIs should therefore be defined locally.
